TROUBLESHOOTING GAS POOL HEATER

A swimming pool heater will keep your pool's water at a
constant temperature. If issues arise that cause the pool
heater to fail to function properly, try troubleshooting the
pool heater before calling a technician for a service call.

1.
Test your pool chemicals and rebalance them if rust is
being returned to the pool after heating.
Also, replace any heater parts that have been damaged.

2.
Light the heater's pilot, open the gas supply valve,
get the thermostat up to temperature and ensure that
the heater is turned on if it doesn't ignite when
you need it to.

3.
Turn on the gas, or fill the tank if you have a
propane heater, if the pilot light will not light. Check to
ensure that your air supply and venting are clear, and
ensure that water runoff from a roof; garage or sprinkler
isn't flooding the pilot and drowning the flame.

4.
Turn up your thermostat, consider getting a larger
heater, or install a solar cover if your pool water's heat
loss is greater than the output of the pool heater.

5.
Reset the clock on the heater, clean out the pool filter,
or adjust the pressure switch if the heater cycles on and
off continuously.
